We were tasked to create a logo that encompasses a diverse and timeless cultural identity. The Baltics provides incredible opportunities for inspiration; from the rolling landscapes to the traditional dress, the Baltic identity is captured on film as a celebration of the enduring culture.
The distinct film industries of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia communicate the diversity and cultural intricacies that are unique to the Baltic culture. With films ranging from quirky comedies to melancholic dramas the festival invites Australian audiences to discover the passion, diversity, and humour of the Baltics through the lens of a camera.
We understand that a good logo requires lots of research… and some inspiration.
The diverse nature of the Baltic culture, the legacy and heritage of the region, and the creativity of the film industries provided the stroke of inspiration needed to create the logo.
The logo encompasses the spirit of filmmaking. Alluding to a director using his hands to crop an image or frame a scene, the logo was created by using the two middle letters of “Baltic” as a frame or cropping tool. The Baltic Film Festival crops into an area of the world, The Baltics, and the logo reflects this view.
The new logo design was applied to multiple touch points including posters, postcards, light boxes, the website, articles, programs, social media and web banners.
The logo is edgy, unexpected and unique.
